Denture wearers are misunderstood. How do we know? We ran a survey...
In the survey, conducted by Survata and commissioned by our Consumer Healthcare Denture Care Team, we learned that denture wearers have a complex relationship with food, romance, and more. In order to help shed some light on the topic, we pulled out the top 5 interesting findings:
#1: Not all denture wearers are grandmas and grandpas. Our survey showed that more than half of respondents (53%) were 44-years-old or younger when they first got dentures.
#2: The top concern for more than half of denture wearers (54%) is getting food stuck in or under their dentures. As a result, they tend to avoid eating certain foods, like corn on the cob (50%,) apples (34%,) nuts (33%,) steak (23%,) and some beverages that may stain teeth, like coffee or wine (8%.) We hope that with this list of everyday denture tips and a little patience, being able to eat these foods won’t be a concern anymore.
#3: 63% of denture wearers have kept their dentures a secret from someone, including friends (32%,) their sibling(s) (10%,) and even their spouse (7%!)
#4: Some denture wearers avoid certain social situations like eating at parties or weddings (10%) and some are afraid to smile (20%.) As long as dentures are treated with special care, they can help users do the things they enjoy, eat the foods they love, and give them the confidence to restore a carefree smile.
#5: Nearly 2 in 5 (38%) denture wearers admit that wearing dentures has affected their career. These respondents admit that they often feel intimidated to network with other professionals (37%) and lack confidence in meetings (33%.) Nearly a quarter have even avoided going on job interviews (23%.)
So, there you have it. You didn't know and neither did we. We did a survey which told us, then we told you... and now you know.
