Over the past couple of months, you may have seen us post about our recent disease awareness campaign for whooping cough. By using our social media channels, we were hoping to reach a wider audience while also explaining the rationale behind the big bad wolf and whooping cough comparison.
In preparation for the campaign, we noticed a difference in how some of our colleagues pronounced the word "whooping." In the US, we noticed people tended to say "woop" but our UK counterparts said "hoop." It turns out, the debate wasn't only internal.
At the launch of the campaign, we received multiple messages focused on the narrator's pronunciation in our "Behind the scenes" video. We were glad to see our message was reaching the public, but were curious about the answer. So, we decided that in August, we'd ask our followers.
So...what do you think? Is it "hoop" or is it "woop?" Let us know by commenting below or tweeting @GSKUS.
